Much of Antiaging addresses the decline of our hormones as we age. Natural hormones are not the same as bio-identical hormones. For example, Premarin is made out of a “natural” mixture of estrogens made by a pregnant mare. The majority of the estrogens in Premarin is completely foreign to a human body and has delitarious side-effects as seen in the Women’s Health Initiative. The Women’s Health Initiative showed that use of Synthetic Hormones (not bio-identical hormones) resulted in:

  • 29% increase in coronary heart disease
  • 41% increase in strokes
  • 22% increase in cardiovascular disease
  • 2,100% (really) increase in pulmonary embolism (lung blood clot)
  • 26% increase in breast cancer.

Not only do synthetic hormones not look or act like your hormones, they are taken by mouth and thus go to the liver. The liver is not equipped to process hormones from the GI tract and thus increases clotting factors in response to synthetic hormones. This is also true for birth control pills, which are also synthetic hormones.

Bio-identical hormones are identical to the ones that are in your body. Restoration of the levels allows your body to work optimally.
